Embargoed until Junary 25th

Largest-ever celebration of educational opportunity begins today, includes a record-breaking 5,500+ events nationwide.

CARSON CITY (1-25-2014) - Students, parents, teachers and community leaders across Nevada will rally this week in support of school choice at 40 “School Choice Week” events across the Silver State.

The events – which include roundtable discussions, school fairs, open houses at schools, rallies, community meetings and documentary screenings – are all part of National School Choice Week, a public awareness effort that runs from January 26 to February 1, 2014.

National School Choice Week spotlights public support for increased educational options for children – including traditional public schools, public charter schools, magnet schools, private schools, online learning and homeschooling. Many parents in Nevada will also use the Week to begin searching for new schools for their children for the 2014-2015 school year.

“More parents are actively choosing schools for their children than at any other time in American history,” said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. “But still, there is tremendous demand for more educational options for families in Nevada. This message, delivered by parents and their children during National School Choice Week, is one that leaders in Carson City and throughout America need to hear.”
