Selection of events in Colorado

In Colorado, National School Choice Week will feature 690 events and activities. Every event is unique, and all schools, homeschool groups, organizations, and families celebrate in different ways. To give you an idea of the types of celebrations taking place this January in Colorado, here are just a few that participants have shared with the NSCW team:

 

SkyView Academy in Highlands Ranch, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. Students and staff members submit amazing quotes about our outstanding school. Student groups are taking pictures wearing the SCW yellow scarfs. Staff members will wear the SCW yellow scarfs and take professional pictures with the SCW posters. The staff pictures will accompany social media posts/staff quotes throughout the wee and some may go in the bundles with our winning essay to the DCSD Board, National School Week Committee, and our SkyView Academy Board. All staff members and students will be encouraged to wear “yellow” on Friday, January 31st.”

Ross Montessori School in Carbondale, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. K-8 Montessori instruction and learning is what we have planned! It works. This, along with a hearty enrichment program is a weekly plan for all our children.”

Ambleside at Skylark in Glenwood Springs, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. We will be passing out scarves to students. Posting pictures and other NSCW graphics, videos and information on our Facebook pages”

Chavez/Huerta Prep. Academy in Pueblo, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. Our kindergarten students will be writing about why they love our school. They will be wearing the bright yellow scarves and doing the dot to dot activity that was provided in the teaching materials.”

The New America School in Lakewood, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great. The event will feature passing out info to students and families”

Parker Core Knowledge Charter School in Parker, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great. The event will feature 1st – 5th Graders will be responding to “I love my school because…”. The responses will be posted next week around the school along with the posters for National School Choice Week. We are letting our school know about National School Choice Week in our Thursday Newsletter.”

St. Francis de Sales Catholic Stem School in Denver, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature an open house to celebrate, and invite community members to our Stem classroom.”

Liberty Tree Academy in Peyton, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. Along with enjoying our fun yellow scarves, we are going to explain to our students WHY we are excited about the week’s celebration and HOW thankful we are to have SCHOOL CHOICE!”

Alamosa High School in Alamosa, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. We are going to have a school wide parade to include all students, athletic teams, specialized classes and clubs. The parade will end with our elementary students performing the school choice dance on the football field. The video of the parade will be broadcast on our local school news.”

Pueblo School for Arts & Sciences in Pueblo, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature a spirit week with NSCW themed days. We will also have all grade levels learn the NSCW dance in physical education, then a few from each class will perform together in a schoolwide video.”

Angela Holshouser in Trinidad, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of school choice. I am a teacher at Holy Trinity Academy in Trinidad, Colorado.  Also, my daughter is a student at Holy Trinity Academy.  As a teacher I am having my students work on writing and creative projects to display for our Century Club Dinner which gives thanks to all our supporters at Holy Trinity Academy.  We also, as a school, will be placing banners and any and all information we can in our school to celebrate National school Choice Week!”

Karen Young in Pueblo, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. My grandson, who I am raising, attends online alternative school, AIM Global school. They have special events all the time to promote their options to homeschooling. I plan on giving them the box to use at the next activity. They are having a board game and nacho day”

Dianna Ghoslon in Durango, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For our event we plan to celebrate by thanking Needham elementary for all they do and supporting them in any way we can! Because we love school and we love to learn!!”

New Emerson in Grand Junction, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. Our learners will be celebrating and showing school spirit by engaging in the National School Choice Week Dance, greeting parents and school community in the mornings by holding NSCW signs and wear scarves. We will also draw and write about what we love about our school.”

DSST Middle School @ Noel Campus in Denver, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. NSCW supplies will be used as prizes during our morning meeting this week. We will also educate our students about National School Choice week at this time.”

Christ Lutheran Church Preschool in Highlands Ranch, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great. We honor the families for selecting our school as their school of choice. They received a poem and trinket of sorts.”

Giant Step Preschool & Child Care Center in Rangely, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great. The event will feature We will be handing out the yellow scarves and discuss that attending our school is a choice of the children and their parents.”

SkyView Academy in Highlands Ranch, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. SkyView Academy will be holding an essay contest where student will writing about, “Why I love SkyView” or “What Makes SkyView Special.” Winners will be recognized in front of the Board of Directors among other members of our community. Students will also be wearing all yellow on the Friday of SCW and we will be posing for a fun picture to celebrate!”

Costarz Cheer And Dance Team in Lakewood, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. We will be making posters and performing the dance at the mall.”

Colorado Connections academy in Longmont, CO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about homeschooling. The event will feature making fun food and sending teachers thank you emails. Leaving swag all around town.”
