In Florida, National School Choice Week will feature 4,992 events and activities. Every event is unique, and all schools, homeschool groups, organizations, and families celebrate in different ways. To give you an idea of the types of celebrations taking place this January in Florida, here are just a few that participants have shared with the NSCW team:

 

City Church Academy in Sanford, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We are doing a fun themed week. Monday is the 100th day of school so we’re doing 100 reasons why we love CCA. Tuesday, parent appreciation and re-enrollment. Wednesday, student appreciation with a special treat for all students. Thursday, Praise and Worship showcase and a pep rally. Friday, school spirit day.”

AcadeMir Charter School West in Miami, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great. We are going to kick off the week with all of the students wearing the yellow scarves! We will then have a pep rally in school colors, our cheerleaders will be performing, and we will be taking a school picture spelling out our name!”

Indian River Charter High School in Vero Beach, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. “

Florida Virtual School in Orlando, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. Follow us on social media where Florida Virtual School will be sharing digital content for NSCW together with Celebrate Literacy Week.”

Kidworks USA in Hialeah, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. We will use our message board to promote School Choice week”

Plantation Classical Conversations, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to provide information to parents interested in homeschooling their children. We will take group photos with our scarves & we’re also having an Open House”

The James Madison Institute in Tallahassee, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. The event will feature The James Madison Institute is pleased to announce former Florida Representative Michael Bileca as the 4th Annual J. Stanley Marshall Award recipient for being an Education Innovator in Florida.   Other guests of honor and panelists for that evening include Rep. Jennifer Sullivan  and Rep. Byron Donaldson  The James Madison Institute will celebrate Dr. J. Stanley Marshall Day at The Columns, JMI’s headquarters in Tallahassee, on Tuesday, January 28. It will be a reception event, with check-in beginning at 5:00 pm and the program going from 5:30 p.m. till 7:00p.m. Light hor’s d’oeuvres and drinks will be provided.  This event will be part of National School Choice Week, one week set aside every January to raise awareness of all types of education options and promote non-partisan educational opportunity. Dr. Marshall was a fierce advocate of school choice, so in his honor we will be awarding the fourth-annual J. Stanley Marshall Award to an “Education Innovator,” as part of the JMI’s Marshall Center for Educational Options. Christian home educators in Ocala, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling students and parents. We meet at a local park every other week. We want to show our spirit and gratitude for choice in our state and community to choose how we see fit to homeschool our children. We will display our banners and scarves”

Classical Conversations Gainesville West in Gainesville, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about homeschooling. The event will feature We are planning to take photos and post on social media accounts of families and our group page.”

Classical Conversations Feather Sound in Clearwater, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to provide information to parents interested in homeschooling their children. We are hosting information sessions and a discovery night to share with the community that you can homeschool and we can help!”

Hschool in Bradenton, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to let families discover more about homeschooling. The event will feature sharing knowledge”

Florida Charter School Alliance in Miami, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. The Alliance is hosting 2 Education Town Hall meetings that week.  One in Miami on Jan 29, and one in Jacksonville on Friday Jan 31.  Panelists representing school choice organizations will discuss the evolution of school choice in Florida and predictions for the next decade.”

Girl Scout Troop 526 in Jacksonville, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to Raise awareness of education options for children. We will hand out the scarves and discuss what it means to choose a school to fit you and your needs!”

Little Scholars Child Development Center, Inc in Stuart, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. The event will feature a photo shoot to celebrate the community”

Happy Hearts Learning Center in Hialeah, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. The event will feature We distributed the scarves to each students and took pictured with them. Then, we decided to celebrate with donuts and a party with music for the kids.”

Jacqueline Harris Preparatory Academy in Pensacola, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. Our students and staff will kickoff National School Choice Week by attending a worship service together and wearing our scarves.  Students will also wear their scarves out in to community as we go to various community centers to spread awareness to School Choice.”

Happy Hearts Elementary School in Cutler bay, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. The event will feature a performance of the NSCW dance.”

RFM CHRISTIAN ACADEMY in Melbourne, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We celebrate National School Choice Week with a Black History program which includes a talent show, Awards for our students and staff.”

A Kid’s Learning Experience II in Jacksonville, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great. We will hand out scraves to students and teachers.  We will take pictures.  We will learn the School Choice dance and video tape it.”

Renaissance Charter School at Cooper City in Cooper City, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We will be celebrating National School Choice Week with our parents during our Monthly Charger Parent Advisory Meeting. This meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 28th, 2020. Our Principal will address parents and then do an activity in reference to the day. Our school will be celebrating literacy week at the same time, which give us the perfect momentum to include the coloring pages to students, give away stickers and other NSCW materials.”

International Christian Academy in LaBelle, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We are planning an event each day, support your favorite team, Occupation day, Poster contest, Parade, Red and Yellow Explosion day.”

Faith Acathemy in Lake city, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. We are giving away the scarfs to our students parent and people in our community.”

Sueellen Bennett in Islamorada, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of school choice. For our event we are practicing the song and dance with our preschool children.  We will do our dance and video tape for the parents. Some of our parents will be here to watch.  We will put the picture in the local newspaper.  Our children love to dance and the scarves are a huge hit.  They keep them all year.”

Karen Raby in St. Petersburg, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. For our event we will be handling out scarfs at my kids school”

Rachel Mccarty in Reddick, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to inform parents about the options available for their children’s education. or our event we will supporting families and sharing materials with students. We are using our church school room to tutor local students. National School Choice week will help us get the word out to families about the options available for their children. We plan to hand out scarfs, tell of educational pursuits, and take photos to share with families.”

Cassie Anderson in Lake Wales, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of opportunity in education. For our event we will be sending the supplies to the schools via my children for the teachers and their students. Some supplies will be staying home for us to have a photo shoot and promote school choice week at home.”

Jeannie Norman in Orlando, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. For our event we will try a dance routine.”

Donna Laflam in Avon Park, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. For our event we will be talking to our school-age grandkids about their schools and the freedoms they have for their education. Give them their scarves and make a party of it!”

Clayton Bolden in Port Charlotte, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to inform parents about the options available for their children’s education. For our event I will be holding a forum to educate other parents and students about NSCW”

Pat Torres in Sanford, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. For our event we will have a ‘grateful week’ for School Choice. School choice has allowed us to incorporate a safe fun easy to focus learning environment.”

Samantha Jean in Boca Raton, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. For our event we will I plan to give my kids teachers the supplies to utilize in the classrooms and for the kids to wear! I love your program!”

Jeannette Friend in Longwood, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. On Monday we will be providing muffins and coffee to our parents and wearing our scarfs. We will celebrate and dance with our scarfs on the playground. Thursday we will wear our pajamas all day and eat lunch outside as a group with a little story time. Friday will be an ice cream social and parents are invited. The children will dance with their scarfs on all day. We are very excited!!”

Passport School in Orlando, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. We are planning a school wide Flash Mob to celebrate our charter school! Our Panther Paw Dance Team has been practicing the National School Choice Week 2020 Official Dance and will be leading our students and staff in a school-wide flash mob. Our Media Club students will be creating a special video to honor school choice week and our school. Our students and teachers have been encouraged to create art, bulletin boards and creative students work products that celebrate school choice.”

Manatee Charter School in Bradenton, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. The event will feature We present quick announcements to let students know how lucky they are to be able to go to out charter school.  We also have students discuss what they like about our charter school.  Parents are reminded about the choice that they made in a flyer.  We have a spirit week for students, including hat day, crazy socks day, jersey day, etc.  On Friday we have an assembly to celebrate out school.  Pep rally!!”.”

Montessori World School in Orlando, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event will feature an open house for new prospective families that week”

The Vine Christian Academy in Kissimmee, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. We are going to celebrate the NSCW with different activities in the school.”

Stone Magnet Middle School in Melbourne, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. We plan to hand out the yellow scarves at our EPO Application Workshop for the families and students who are applying to come to SMMS from out of our zoned area. Also I plan to have students write “why they love their school” thoughts down on the blank sheets, and I plan to incorporate that on our school tour video on our website with a few of the students wearing the cute, yellow scarves.”

Riverland Christian Academy in Dunnellon, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. We will be handing out the scarves and taking pictures of the students with them; posting to social media sites.”

Minneola Charter School in Minneola, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. We will be celebrating both National School Choice Week and Celebrate Literacy Week together. Each day there will be theme days that will promote our school and why our faculty, staff, students, and families are crazy about our school and why we also love to read. Our goal is to shine a positive spotlight on Minneola Charter School, show our school spirit, and raise awareness that there are different education options out there.”

Entirety K-12 in Brooksville, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We are hosting our annual downtown block party. We close the streets down and the students will perform the national school choice dance followed by a street dancing, food, and great fun all under the lights of historical downtown Brooksville, FL.”

Robinswood Middle School in Orlando, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. Students are making videos telling how much they like the school. Scraves are being given out to students to wear, School Choice Posters are put up all over the school. Students are writing on the boards why they like the school.”

Saint Paul Catholic School in Leesburg, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. Each class will be going out into the community singing in nursing homes with our younger students to serving in soup kitchens, cleaning up church grounds for the older students.”

Temple Christian School in North Fort Myers, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. We will be having an open house and ice cream social.”

West Tampa Elementary in Tampa, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. The event will feature our new mural and visit from the mayor to show what we are doing at West Tampa Elementary”

Celandine Life Prep Academy in Maitland, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. We will be performing the NSCW dance for family and friends. It will be posted on our Instagram and Facebook pages. Our entire school will be walking together around Lake Lily Park, in Maitland, FL on Friday, February 1st, with our scarves and NSCW signs.”

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Scool in Palm Coast, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. This coincides with our Catholic Schools Week, so we incorporate these activities into our NSCW. We will pass out the scarves to students on our Celebrate Students Day.”

Saint Jude Catholic School in Boca Raton, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. This year, we are happy to celebrate both National School Choice Week and Catholic Schools Week at the same time. Some of the events we will have that week are: Spelling Bee, Open House, Walk-A-Thon, Volunteers and Teachers Appreciation events and more.”

AcadeMir Preparatory Academy in Miami, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. We plan to have a spirit week where students dress up in themed outfits each day (example: School Spirit Day; students may dress in yellow and blue, wear fun accessories, and receive fun beaded necklaces. We also plan to have a fun field day for our students where they will play games, listen to music, eat fun treats and more!”

JACQUELINE HARRIS PREPARATORY ACADEMY in PENSACOLA, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event take place at a local church where we will help the community understand School Choice. We will also have different activities during the week that will include our parents. Special events will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday with our children telling what School Choice means to them.”

Valrico Academy in Riverview, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event will feature a Curriculum Night on January 29, 2020 to invite families in our community to come out and visit our school, meet our staff and view all of the great activities and curriculum our school has to offer.”

Champagnat Catholic School in Hialeah, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature students describing the opportunity they have had by being able to be at our school or have a choice.”

Miami Union Adventist Academy in North Miami, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. The event will feature a student Pep rally and activities for both new and old students. Student will share what they love about MUAA. Teachers and Staff will kick off our recruitment push. Students and staff will be able to show off school spirit.”

The Charter School at Waterstone in Homestead, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. The event will feature a pep rally with our students, faculty, and staff to celebrate the power of choice in education”

LittleScholars Child Development Center, Inc. in Jensen Beach, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great. The event will feature Children, wearing yellow clothing along with their yellow scarves and take pictures upon arrival with our National School Choice Week posters.”

Rainbow Montessori  Multicultural School in Hollywood, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event an Open House, taking pictures and posting online using the #schoolchoiceweek”

The event will feature a Pete the Cat themed week. Teachers and volunteers reading and singing with our young kids. A class contest and sing along.”

Parkway Christian School in Davie, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school.  We are going to post pictures with students holding “I love my school” placards,students will make a quick video about why they love our school, the dance team will learn and perform the National School Choice Week dance.”

Thinking Child Christian Academy in Homestead, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. The event will display our spirit for everyone in the school and celebrate our victories in our classes and as a school.”

Learning Wonderland Preschool in Palm Springs, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. We will decorate the school and organize the Open House.”

St. Gerard Campus in St. Augustine, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. The event will feature students sharing their personal stories through the use of interviews by their fellow students.”

Kissimmee Christian Academy in Kissimmee, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event take place on Facebook, in thechapel, and in our newsletters”

Wings Learning Center Preschool in Doral, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great. Everyday will be doing something different. On Wednesday we are decorating white and yellow shirts with School Choice Week; on Friday we are having a field day, everyone will wear their shirts and we will have chants, and dances celebrating School Choice Week.”

BridgeHaven Academy in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature a family night to recognize our families”

Manatee School For the Arts in Palmetto, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. The event will feature a dance video together as well as doing an open house January 14-16”

Early Learning Is The Answer School in Hallandale Beach, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature wearing our scarves in honor of National School Choice Week along with asking our children what they go to school for and what they plan to acheive using the knoweldge they gain. We will also take pictures showing our school spirit in commemoration of all our children, parents, and staff that make school so great.”

Carver Middle School in Orlando, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We will be reflecting on what makes Carver Middle School a great place to learn. IB Magnet students in Gr6-8 will be completing shout out cards and posters celebrating our school and the learning opportunities provided.”

South County Career Center in Ruskin, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature a student reward party”

The Broach School Zephyrhills in Zephyrhills, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature School Choice Week Local Spirit Events and Activities”

We also create posters and hang them throughout the school. We ask students to expresses what they appreciate from our school.”

ESPIRITU SANTO CATHOLIC SCHOOL in Safety Harbor, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. The event will feature an open house for prospective students, holding a trike-a-thon to benefit St. Jude’s Hospital and holding a Jump Rope For Heart event to benefit the American Heart Association.”

The event will feature celebrations at the school campuses with various activities involving the students, staff and parents.”

The event will feature a celebratory breakfast for families and our song & dance club plans to perform your song/dance challenge for the school and families.”

Black Homeschoolers Of Central Florida, Inc. in Deltona, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. The event will feature a community event filled with vendors from every facet of the community, free homeschooling and community workshops, children’s activities”

Ed Options, Inc in Orlando, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to Rraise awareness of education options for children.”

Classical Conversations Tallahassee in Tallahassee, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to let families discover more about homeschooling. The event will feature five of our seven homeschooling communities in and around Tallahassee will be hosting science fairs for our Challenge A (seventh grade) students.”

The event will include taking pictures at my home with my kids, visiting other homeschool families and taking pictures, and at the park with kids co-op group. I’m sure there will be videos as well.”

Kamela Hakes from Jacksonville Fl, FL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to inform parents about the options available for their children’s education. For the event we will host a coffee and truffles party, to spread the word about school choice.
