Selection of events in Hawaii

In Hawaii, National School Choice Week will feature 96 events and activities. Every event is unique, and all schools, homeschool groups, organizations, and families celebrate in different ways. To give you an idea of the types of celebrations taking place this January in Hawaii, here are just a few that participants have shared with the NSCW team:

 

Classical Conversations in Honolulu, HI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on homeschooling. The event will feature handing out scarves and taking pictures.”

Lanakila Baptist Schools in Waipahu, HI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event will feature We will start the week off by blanketing the school in School Choice information and sending out information to our families about what school choice is. Then on Thursday we will visit the Hawaii State Capitol building and rally outside and share information and perform the school choice dance.”

St. Joseph Elementary School in Hilo, HI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature a dress-up theme days and a Family Picnic Day”

Lanakila Baptist Schools in Waipahu, HI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. Our school will “Rally at the Hale” at the Hawaii State Capitol building on January 30, 2020. We will discuss School Choice, do the NSCW 2020 dance, and wave signs while making School Choice visible in Hawaii.”

Classical Conversations of Hawaii (17 locations) in Ewa Beach, HI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to let families discover more about homeschooling. The event will feature many of our communities taking pictures of the kids wearing the scarves and holding up signs.”

Cheryl Krael from Pearl City, HI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will focus recognition on Christian Youth Educators and awareness of dedication for youth and families.”

Rosary Preschool in Waipahu, HI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great. We celebrate with a week activity with parents, children and staff to enjoy.”

Kailua Elementary School in Kailua, HI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. We’ve asked our students to use a process that they love to share their reason that they love their school. For example, they could write an essay, a song, a rap, a poem, make a poster, draw a picture, paint something, create a dance, write a speech, give a speech, take a photo of something that they love about Kailua Elementary School. All submissions will be displayed at our All School Assembly on January 29th. There will be Sign Waving showing our School Pride on January 29th before school.”
