Selection of events in Illinois

In Illinois, National School Choice Week will feature 1,679 events and activities. Every event is unique, and all schools, homeschool groups, organizations, and families celebrate in different ways. To give you an idea of the types of celebrations taking place this January in Illinois, here are just a few that participants have shared with the NSCW team:

 

New Life Academy in Chicago, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. The event will feature an assembly to tell the kids about school choice week and give them their scarves. There will be photos taken as well.”

All About kids Montessori School in Aurora, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature arts, games and crafts.”

Families of Faith Christian Academy in Channahon, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We have an assembly as a school of PK3-12th grade on Monday, January 27, at 8:30 a.m. Each student will be given a scarf as well as enjoy a special speaker, Pastor Clark Llewellyn. Throughout the week, students will be given the opportunity to share how they love their school.”

Robert A. Black Magnet School in Chicago, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. Students were given scarfs and wrote responses to the “I love my school because….””

St. Benedict Elementary School in Blue Island, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. The event will feature an Open House and Curriculum Fair. During the week we will take different days to celebrate our students, faculty, and volunteers. During this week students get to choose to wear different clothing other than their uniforms.”

Connie Bryant in Centralia, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance of effective education for children. For our event I plan on giving out the scarves to promote awareness and support for our local grade school.”

Christian Home Educators Support System in Chicago, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to demonstrate the positive impact of homeschooling. The event will feature We will be hosting two informational workshops on January 27th & 29th to empower parents to take the lead in their children education!”

Melissa Goodman in Calumet City, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For our event I will hand out scarfs to my sons friends at school.”

Zion Lutheran School in Staunton, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. We will be using materials and distributing items in conjunction with National Lutheran Schools Week.”

First institute in Crystal lake, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. I plan on asking students why they decided to continue their education.”

Spectrum School in Rockford, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. The event will feature wear yellow day/scarf pictures”

FARMER CITY BISMARK GRADE SCHOOL in FARMER CITY, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. STARTING ON JANUARY 27TH OR 28TH WITH WEATHER PERMITTING GOING OUT TO RECESS THE CHILDREN WILL BE PLAYING RING AROUND THE ROSIE WITH THE SCARVES.”

Unity Christian School in Energy, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. We are planning an all school assembly where I will give a brief overview of why we celebrate National School Choice Week and have students think about how important it is for them and their parents to get to choose to attend a private Christian school. We will then give everyone a scarf and learn the dance in the gym together.”

Child’s Voice in Wood dale, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. Everyday is a different theme, we give the scarves to the kids and do the dance.”

St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran School in Chicago, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. National School Choice Week will be a week of demonstrating our school spirit and culmination with service by packing nutritious meals for hungry children around the world through the Feed our Starving Children Organization.”

Altamont Lutheran Interparish School in Altamont, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. The event will feature a. Decorated locker contest grades 4-8 = Theme-ALIS is the place to be because b. Video clips – Why do you love ALIS? Some clips will be of students while others will be of teachers but the voice and words will be the student’s. (Like the Haribo gummy bear commercial) c. Placards – I love my School posted around the building d. Scarves handed out at the beginning of the day. e. Student written thank you cards to parents for sending them to ALIS  f. Student written thank you cards to community businesses for their support to ALIS.”

Good Shepherd Lutheran School in Collinsville, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. At the event we will be handing out yellow school choice scarves and wearing them during Lutheran Schools Week.”

Wonderland Kids Academy in Fox River Gre, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature our kids doing art projects about school. We will host a kids-teacher party, they will wear yellow scarves and later watch a movie.”

McKinley lakeside leadership academy in Chicago, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature Pep Rally and we will decorate school hallways”

Von Steuben Middle School in Peoria, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. The event will bring some positive attention to our school, which is one of many in our district, Peoria Public School District 150, and to take the time to shed some light on some great teachers and staff and some of the incentives we like to give our kids to help keep them on the right track for learning and attendance.”

Helen&joe Acevedo Scholarship Memorial Foundation in Chicago, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. The event will feature a School Choice Party Rally”

Helen & Joe Acevedo Scholarship Memorial Foundation Nfp in Chicago, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. The event will engage our scholarship recipients and their parents”

The Beloved Community Development Coalition in Dolton, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of school choice. We will celebrate educational choice and inform parents and churches of the opportunities for developing and operating church and home school cooperatives.”

Apache in Peoria, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to let families discover more about homeschooling. The event take place at the library”

Michelle Oakes from South Pekin, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. For the event we will raise awareness in our town and at the local special needs school.”

Regina Idrisova from Westmont, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling. For the event we will be watching movies with treats as celebration for everything we have accomplished and also make a new goals.”

Jessica Andrade from Chicago, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance of effective education for children. For the event we will be helping others”

Erica Steder from West Brooklyn, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will post on Facebook and share with family and friends”
