In Indiana, National School Choice Week will feature 1,352 events and activities. Every event is unique, and all schools, homeschool groups, organizations, and families celebrate in different ways. To give you an idea of the types of celebrations taking place this January in Indiana, here are just a few that participants have shared with the NSCW team:

 

Seven Oaks Classical School in Ellettsville, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. Our PTCA will help distribute yellow school choice scarves at lunchtime to our students from kindergarten through high school. They will take photos to share on Facebook and our newsletter.”

Michiana Christian Academy in South Bend, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. The event will feature handing out scarves to students and staff! Taking pics of students with scarves for our website and Facebook!”

Saint Joseph Catholic School – FW in Fort Wayne, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We will be kicking off Choice Week with a parking lot party! Teacher, staff, and our school mascot “Joseph the Panther” will be outside to greet students and parents as they arrive. We will have music, posters, and of course our yellow scarves! We will also be handing out coffee and breakfast treats to our parents!”

Lighthouse Christian Academy in Bloomington, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We plan to hand out the scarves and talk to our student body about how beneficial School Choice is to our students.”

Bishop Noll Institute in Hammond, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. We are planning to use social media to promote our school to the local community and provide some information about the Indiana School Choice voucher.”

Prosperity Enrichment in Indianapolis, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event will feature various projects such as volunteer work, essays, and environmental cleanup. followed by a pizza party at the end of the week.”

St. Joseph Catholic School in Shelbyville, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. We are giving all the students the Yellow Scarves on the Monday of that week. It is also Catholic Schools Week, so we have several things planned. We are planning to take a picture of all the students/staff wearing the scarves.”

Augustus Tolton Catholic Academy in Chicago, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature utilizing digital marketing and posters, pictures, dance routine, career day, and staff lunch.”

SPC. Daniel Zizumbo Charter School in Chicago, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. Our school will have our parents pass out the scarves and decorate our hallway with the “I love my school because..” and creating a video with their response. Pictures will be posted on our social media outlets .”

Aurora Christian Schools in Aurora, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. The week will be filled with activities that teachers can choose to do with their students. We will include the scarves but also have interviews from students about why they love ACS and why school choice is important. These interviews will be posted to out social media pages.”

Hope Excel Reaching the World in Chicago, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event will feature singing and dancing”

FARMER CITY BISMARK GRADE SCHOOL in FARMER CITY, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to Show our school spirit. The event will feature STARTING ON JANUARY 27TH OR 28TH WITH WEATHER PERMITTING GOING OUT TO RECESS THE CHILDREN WILL BE PLAYING RING AROUND THE ROSIE WITH THE SCARFS.”

Zion Lutheran School in Staunton, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. We will be using materials and distributing items in conjunction with National Lutheran Schools Week.”

First institute in Crystal lake, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. The event will feature asking students why they decided to continue their education.”

Spectrum School in Rockford, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. The event will feature a wear yellow day/scarf pictures”

Unity Christian School in Energy, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. We are planning an all school assembly where I will give a brief overview of why we celebrate National School Choice Week and have students think about how important it is for them and their parents to get to choose to attend a private Christian school.  We will then give everyone a scarf and learn the dance in the gym together.”

Child’s Voice in Wood dale, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. Everyday is a different theme, we give the scarves to the kids and do the dance.”

St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran School in Chicago, IL will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. National School Choice Week will be a week of demonstrating our school spirit and culmination with service by packing nutritious meals for hungry children around the world through the Feed our Starving Children Organization.”

Saint Wendel Catholic School in Wadesville, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. We will be hanging up posters.”

Springs Valley in French Lick, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about homeschooling. The event will feature discussing why education is important and make crafts involving different types of education.”

Classical Conversations in Highland, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about homeschooling. We will hand out scarves and take pictures.”

Kingjames13 Anti Bully Inc in Indianapolis, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of school choice. The event will feature going into schools showing moves getting the news involved, free popcorn!”

Ann Keller in Fremont, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling. For our event we will be celebrating NSCW, and our choice to homeschool, through social media and sharing the celebration with local homeschool families and families who are looking into homeschooling further.”

Brooke Hill in Bedford, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For our event we will celebrate by going over what our favorite things are and why we support the cause”

St. Bernard Elementary School in Wabash, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We will give students the yellow scarves, do the dance with the video, and ask parents to write letters to our state legislators to encourage them to continue/expand school choice. We are promoting our school all month.”

Southeastern Indiana YMCA Learning Center in Batesville, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. The event will feature We are making School Choice week a spirit week. We will give out scarves for kids on Crazy Hair Day.”

Inspire Academy in Muncie, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. The event will feature We are planning a special breakfast where students invite someone special, School choice dance at Community Circle (public invited), wear yellow for school choice day, and decorate our halls.”

MTI school of knowledge in Indianapolis, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. The event will feature giving out scarves and taking pictures with drone”

Our Lady of Grace in Highland, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We incorporate NSCW with our Catholic School’s Week activities. The scarves are handed out during an all school assembly during the week.”

Whiting Middle School in Whiting, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. We plan to pass out the scarves and hats to all of our students.”

Queen of All Saints in Michigan City, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. While raising awareness of the benefits of School Choice we will celebrate all that makes us unique with Career Day, student rallies or Lunch with Community Guests”

Greenwood Montessori Children’s House in Greenwood, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. h We want to celebrate your POWER of CHOICE with you on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1st from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Greenwood Community Center. We would love it if you could join us and let the kids burn off some energy and build community with others.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson 58 in Indianapolis, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We are handing out the scarves and our 6th grade students are meeting with the Middle School representatives to learn about their choice of schools for next year.”

Akron Elementary School in Akron, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. The event will feature a spirit week where each day will be a different event. Monday – Hat Day, Tuesday – Dress like a teacher day, Wednesday- Farm Day, Thursday – Scarf Day, and Friday – School colors day. It will also be jeans week for the staff.”

St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception in Aurora, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. We have invited our two state representatives, state senator, mayor , city manager, county commissioners to our school on 1/31 to visit our school to see what we do and how important the choice of school is to our families.”

Hoosier Academies in Indianapolis, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to Show our school spirit. The event will feature our students wearing the scarves for social media posts.”

Zion Lutheran School Early Childhood Center in Seymour, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. This is also “National Lutheran Schools Week”; thus, we will be collaborating efforts for both emphasis.  We will have various activities going on throughout the week & do a lot of promoting about our school to the local church & community families.”

Peace Montessori in New Haven, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We will all wear our scarves and celebrate our school!”

21st Century Charter High School in Gary, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. We are excited to have giveaways and daily activities for school choice week.”

Maya Elder from Fort Wayne, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we are planning to have an appreciation activity”

Stormy Abrams from Bloomfield, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling. For the event we plan on inviting some homeschool friends over for lunch and a get together.”

Natasha Rutledge from Linton, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will be playing games with my kids and a few of their friends. Also my kids teachers are attending for a massive thank you party”

Holly Mytich from Gary, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate traditional public schools. For the event we will present our teachers and principals coffee mugs with there names on it and the coffee mug says ‘it takes a great teacher to mold little minds’!”

Cynthia Plummer from Anderson, IN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show local support for school choice. For the event we will make some signs to hang outside. We live on a major street so I know we will have lots of people see them. Also we are planning a school choice mini party at the library.”

For the event we will I plan on getting my union members involved as we celebrate and give support to the teachers for that week by giving them gifts and offering any type of support they need.”
