Selection of events in Kansas

In Kansas, National School Choice Week will feature 413 events and activities. Every event is unique, and all schools, homeschool groups, organizations, and families celebrate in different ways. To give you an idea of the types of celebrations taking place this January in Kansas, here are just a few that participants have shared with the NSCW team:

 

Kansas School for the Deaf in Olathe, KS will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great. We are handing out scarves and starting a conversation with families about the choices they have when picking a school.”

Kayla Migas in Kansas City, KS will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of school choice. For our event we will do community work”

Sheridan Elementary School in Junction City, KS will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. The event will feature Pay it forward. We will give every child a scarf, they are to pass it along to someone who needs one. Every good deed, leads to another!”

Manhattan Christian College in Manhattan, KS will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show local support for school choice. Thursday, January 30 will be a special campus visit day.  High school students who come on campus and participate in this Thunder Thursday will receive a $500 scholarship!  The day includes chapel and lunch so let Jenny know you are coming! Rachel Moore from Great Bend, KS will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will tell my youth group and my boy scouts”

Michelle Frank from Topeka, KS will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. For the event we will share on social media.”

Metropolitan School of the Arts in Overland Park, KS will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. We are ramping up efforts to recruit students from the KC Ballet day school to offer online education in conjunction with their KC Ballet curriculum”

Flint Hills Learning Center in Emporia, KS will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. We plan on handing out scarves to students, having students fill out a page of why they love their school and taking pictures.”
