Selection of events in Kentucky

In Kentucky, National School Choice Week will feature 883 events and activities. Every event is unique, and all schools, homeschool groups, organizations, and families celebrate in different ways. To give you an idea of the types of celebrations taking place this January in Kentucky, here are just a few that participants have shared with the NSCW team:

 

St.Edward Catholic School in Cynthiana, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great. We will kick off the week with Sunday Mass attended by the whole school. Children will wear their school choice scarves, sing in choir, and do all the Mass readings.”

Classical Conversations South, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about homeschooling. We would like to have the signs again this year to take pictures of our families and classes. Parents can share these on social media to support school choice.”

Antioch Team Kids in Lewisburg, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance of effective education for children. The event will feature the kids giving the scarves to those less fortunate who are in need.”

First Baptist Church Weekday Education in Leitchfield, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. We will start our ‘Celebrate National School Choice Week’ in our Monday Morning Chapel program by handing our the scarves to all our students and talk about School Choice.  We are a Christian School and all our students are here by choice.  .  We will have all the signs and banners displayed through out our school the week before and it will be recognized in our weekly newsletter.”

Turner Academy in Raywick, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling students and parents. We plan to encourage and interact with a big pep rally.”

Jones Family Acc. in Bowling Green, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about homeschooling. We learn about how schools learn and how we are different due to having choices. We give out the scarves and my son also wears his all over. This gives us a chance to let parents know that they have a choice!!”

Tiffany Jenkins in Louisville, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For our event we will be passing out the scarfs to students to promote and celebrate National School Choice Week.”

Aimee Newton in Cub Run, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For our event we will accompanying my children to all of their school activities for National School Choice Week!”

Emily Mills in Manchester, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For our event we will be giving every child in my son’s class a yellow scarf”

Boone County Area Technology Center in Hebron, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. The event will feature posting pictures on our social media with students wearing the yellow scarves with a discuss the importance of school choice”

Summit Christian Academy in Lexington, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. The event will feature Scarf Day and school-wide photograph, signs held up by students at drop-off and pick-up, wear school choice colors day, students write a letter of thank you to parents for choosing their school, special chapel prayer, drawing contest with winners announced on Friday”

Johnsontown Road Elementary in Louisville, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. I am sending these goodies to my sons elementary school for his kindergarten class to celebrate in class.”

Christian Academy of Lawrenceburg in Lawrenceburg, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options.”

Grayson County Girl Scouts in Leitchfield, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show local support for school choice. We are planning activities with the Girl Scouts promoting activities, games and contests.”

Phillis Wheatley Chapter in PARIS, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. At the event we will give out scarves and have each child say what they want to be when they grow up and what college they want to go to.”

Varner’s  Learning Center in Hardin, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling students and parents. We will have a get together with other families that are close to me about homeschooling”

Melinda Caudill from Hazard, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will be raising awareness from our local hub at the community college”

April Montgomery from Salyersville, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to inform parents about the options available for their children’s education. For the event we will celebrate with other parents”

Andrea Schember from Mentor, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling. For the event we will document, and share on social media, our everyday life as a homeschooling family currently homeschooling high school.”

Carol Yates from Henderson, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event, I plan on celebrating with my granddaughter at her preschool.”

Amber Cissell from Boston, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will celebrate with my family and friends.”

Samatha Griffith from Sandy Hook, KY will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will learn more about homeschooling my baby girl, going to use this to the best of my ability.”
