In Louisiana, National School Choice Week will feature 1,036 events and activities. Every event is unique, and all schools, homeschool groups, organizations, and families celebrate in different ways. To give you an idea of the types of celebrations taking place this January in Louisiana, here are just a few that participants have shared with the NSCW team:

 

Hosanna Christian Academy in Baton Rouge, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature Hosanna Christian Academy will celebrate school choice week with a morning assembly including speech, rally and school choice dance.”

Prek-12 And Beyond in Tallulah, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of school choice. Students at Prek-12 and Beyond will celebrate School Choice Week by sharing why they love attending Pre k-12 and Beyond After School Program.”

Cindy Marie in Westwego, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance of effective education for children. I intend to give the package to my daughter who is a speech therapist at a school. She said she was going to have a dance activity and give the scarfs out to the winners. Also she is going to hang up the posters. We are also going to print out coloring projects and games for her to use in therapy.”

Amanda Huntington in Bridge City, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. I will be doing an arts and crafts project with my children.”

The Pelican Institute For Public Policy in New Orleans, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to Discuss K-12 school choice policies and opportunities. The Pelican Institute is bringing together 200 stakeholders, industry leaders, legislators and activist for it’s Annual Solution’s Summit. The lunch session will be entirely focused around School Choice in Louisiana.”

Big Dreamers Youth Foundation in Thibodaux, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. Our organization will be hosting a school choice event at our local library to bring all youths together no matter what school they attend to bring awareness about how important school is and let them know about bullying prevention.”

Indian Bible Academy in Elton, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. The event will feature We will hand out scarfs and talk about school choice. We will educate the children about how the government schools have an unfair monopoly on all the educational funds and recommend vouchers to facilitate better school choice.”

Sacred Heart School in Moreauville, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event will feature a balloon launch and putting our flyers and giving out scarves.”

St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic School in New Orleans, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event will feature a schoolwide Pep Rally”

QuesTECH Learning in Monroe, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. Our school will hang banners and signs; students will complete activities in their weekly mentoring classes; school will communicate to parents the importance of school choice.”

Harvest Christian Academy,LLC in Slidell, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on homeschooling. The event will feature an ice cream party with King Cake since we are in Mardi Gras land. We will also participate dancing to One Nation Under the Groove instrumental .”

Classical Conversations in Pearl River, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to let families discover more about homeschooling. The event will feature an Open House”

Donaldsonville Area Chamber of Commerce in Donaldsonville, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of school choice. The event will feature visiting schools and putting pictures in the paper.

Trinity Wolf in Abbeville, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to discuss K-12 school choice policies and opportunities. For our event we will be celebrating by teaching each other and helping and spreading awareness”

Hosanna Christian Academy in Baton Rouge, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. We will utilize the scarves in a special dance for school choice and perform before the whole school.”

St. Mary’s Academy in New Orleans, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. We distribute our scarves to our new students and encourage those who received them before to wear them to school. We also have the students make posters with the poster boards sent with the scarves. We distribute the stickers and tell them to wear them all week.”

Broadmoor Senior High School in Baton Rouge, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. Broadmoor Senior High School will celebrate our school’s cultural diversity by highlighting the 25 countries that our students and faculty represent.”

Family Worship Christian Academy in Opelousas, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great. We plan to show appreciation to both our staff and parents for all of their help in helping every event be successful!”

Greater Baton Rouge Hope Academy in Baton Rouge, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event will feature Hope Academy will be celebrating National School Choice Week by hosting an open house, student participation in school choice activities, such as printables and games, and class parties!”

Elmwood Park Academy in Terrytown, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. The event will feature a PTO Meeting held promoting School Choice Week along with a school book fair.  Parents can attend the meeting and we will discuss School Choice Week followed by a Book Fair attended by Parents, Faculty, and students.  Parents in attendance receive the National School Choice Week scarf as a thank you participating in National School Choice Week.”

Kimberly Byrd from Houma, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will throw a party for the kids to celebrate.”

Belinda Potter from Roseland, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will show how much of an impact we as parents, teachers can make in these kids lives.”

Franchesca Jackson from Baton Rouge, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance of effective education for children. For the event we will be showing the students and children why education is so important by doing some of the things listed on the site.”

Ke Mat from Houma, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance of effective education for children. For the event we will put up a sign on school premises, yard sign, and wear yellow”

Ashly Mccloskey from Sulphur, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance of effective education for children. For the event we will be giving thanks that we have a choice and educating friends and family about our choice”

Kimberly Byrd from Houma, LA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. We will hold a local event to raise awareness on how education is important.”
