Selection of events in Minnesota

In Minnesota, National School Choice Week will feature 686 events and activities. Every event is unique, and all schools, homeschool groups, organizations, and families celebrate in different ways. To give you an idea of the types of celebrations taking place this January in Minnesota, here are just a few that participants have shared with the NSCW team:

 

St. Paul’s Luterhan School in Arlington, MN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. We are going to notify and inform parent of choices in our county for schools. Celebrate the education our student receive at S.t Paul’s with different classroom events.”

Phoenix Academy of Art and Science in North Branch, MN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event will feature All month we have been doing “Good Choice for School Choice” tickets for when the kids are caught making good choices. During School Choice week we will be having a drawing each day to give away the School Choice Scarves. We will also be teaching the School Choice dance, having a family paint/game/spagatti dinner night, and ending the week with Formal Friday and a talent show!”

Face to Face Academy in St. Paul, MN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. We will be baking chocolate chip cookies for each student in our school and handing them out during passing time. We also will be taping 10-20 gift cards underneath random chairs during our assembly day.”

Career Pathways in St. Paul, MN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event will feature We are recruiting for 2020. We are running ads in the local paper, have submitted editorial information, joined the local school fairs, and will host a celebration at school on Friday 2/1 during lunch.”

Raleigh Academy in Duluth, MN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. We will be handing out scarfs, hanging signs, sending home stars for families to decorate and share why they choose Raleigh.”

First Lutheran School in Glencoe, MN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. We are celebrating in conjunction with National Lutheran School’s week January 26-31.”

Alanna Andes in Hastings, MN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. We are incorporating a brand new Spirit Week for our school to coordinate it at the same time as School Choice Week! We’re including fun dress up days, field trips & school song dance! Our final day of the week will include a pep rally and some fun relays & cheers. The kids are really excited and love to share their love for our great school!”

Brookston Christian Academy in Brookston, MN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling students and parents. The kids will be creating a poster about why they love our choice to homeschool and then we will all put on our scarves, snap a picture with them and the posters and put it on Facebook.”

Our Home in Saint paul, MN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on homeschooling. The event will feature a movie day with all kinds of snacks.”

Sandie Polfliet in Lynd, MN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to inform parents about the options available for their children’s education. For our event we will plan on taking a photo and posting it on our Facebook page”

LoveWorks Academy for Visual and Performing Arts in Golden Valley, MN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. We plan to ensure as many families as possible know that we value school choice and that our school is among some of the best options for their child! We will have a Facebook Live Celebration and blast on social media!!!”

King of Kings Lutheran School in Roseville, MN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. We kick of National School Choice & National Lutheran Schools Week (same week) with our annual Winter Jubilee which is our indoor carnival and enrollment event that is free for everyone in our school and community on that Saturday. It includes a free lunch and each classroom highlights the talented faculty we have at King of Kings!”

Mat D from Burnsville, MN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance of effective education for children. For the event we will be going out to the city with a group to raise awareness about better school education.”

Kato Public Charter School in Mankato, MN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We plan to have some friendly competition between homerooms that include a quote challenge, a knowledge quiz challenge, wearing yellow on one of the days, and a puzzle challenge.”

Hope Christian Academy in Cottage Grove, MN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. We will celebrate National School Choice Week all week, January 27-31, with art contests and school spirit building activities. The public is invited to an Open House on Thursday, January 23, from 7-8 p.m.”

Miniapple International Montessori School in Oakdale, MN will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature school choice dance. On another day we have invited parents to join us for a morning of coffee and tea with the directors. We are also decorating a banner and making use of the SCW activity book to decorate our school and have fun.”
