Selection of events in Missouri

In Missouri, National School Choice Week will feature 1,200 events and activities. Every event is unique, and all schools, homeschool groups, organizations, and families celebrate in different ways. To give you an idea of the types of celebrations taking place this January in Missouri, here are just a few that participants have shared with the NSCW team:

 

Torah Prep School in Saint Louis, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. Our middle school students are going to Jefferson City to participate in the School Choice rally and to meet with legislators in the capitol building. They, along with the students staying in school and parents, will be wearing yellow scarves.”

Carondelet Leadership Academy in St. Louis, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature our annual Bingo Night on January 30.”

Frontier School of Innovation in Kansas City, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We plan to celebrate NSCW by shining a positive spotlight on our students, parents, teachers and staff.”

St. Louis Unified School OF Seventh-day Adventists in Saint Louis, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. We are giving our scarves to the church pantry and to the homeless this winter.”

Valle Catholic High School in Ste. Genevieve, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. We’re handing out scarves to our faculty, posting the materials you sent, and make regular mention of the need for school choice/vouchers in the school newsletter.”

El Dorado Christian School in El Dorado Springs, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. The event will feature handing out scarves to students and a picture for the paper.”

Homelink, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to bring attention to homeschooling as a form of school choice. We will be celebrating National School Choice Week at our homeschool learning center called HOMELINK.  On both January 28 and 30, students will be allowed to wear their pajamas and we will have a special pizza lunch!”

Anna-Marie Cox in Eureka, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling students and parents. The event will feature kids wearing their scarves and having a party at the co-op celebrating school choice.”

La Petite Academy in Ballwin, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. The event will feature a school information night pared with a pizza party!”

Frontier Schools in Kansas City, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. The event will feature Social media promotion.”

Rebecca Rose in Mexico, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling. For our event we will wear our scarves when we go out all week and after.”

New Covenant Academy in Springfield, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. We will be taking a group of high school students, along with our Chief Academic Officer and our Government instructor to the state capital on January 29th to show our support of school choice. We will all be wearing our National School Choice scarfs while attending the event.”

Summit Christian Academy in Lee’s Summit, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. Summit Christian is leading a rally at the capitol of our state. There will be a student show comprised of nine schools; and twenty-two schools are participating, along with the governor and several legislators. We ar expecting approximately 800 people.”

Heritage Academy in Columbia, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We are planning to have an alumni student come to speak, create a teacher-highlight video and student-highlight video, hand-out school choice materials, and send home “Thank You” letters to our families.”

Northeast High School in Kansas City, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. The event will feature ‘Once a Viking, Always a Viking’!!”

Cadence Of Duty Memorial Scholarship Noon Profit Organization in St Joseph, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance of effective education for children. The event will celebrate at school functions and assembly”

Young Voices With Action in St. Louis, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance of effective education for children. The event will take place at Carnahan High School where we are preparing students to be leaders and we will be putting them through an immersive curriculum to learn about past movements so they can strategically tackle issues in their own school.”

Unsung Angels Youth Organization in Saint Louis, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to bring awareness to gun violence amongst our youth and community”

Billee Williamson from East Prairie, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders.”

Meagan Mason from Advance, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of school choice. For the event we gather some of the other moms in the community together and sitting down with them and explaining the wonderful things celebrating national school choice can do for our children the teachers and how it can strongly benefit our community”

Chelsey Laster from Labadie, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will give materials to a close friend and educator to say thank you. And to talk about it among the community.”

Jesse Logan from Lebanon, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to inform parents about the options available for their children’s education. We will educate other parents on this program”

Estella Curtis from Saint Louis, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share our family’s school choice story. I am a grandparent that take care of my grandchildren. So everything helps with caring for my grandchildren.”

Terry Knowlton from Springfield, MO will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate traditional public schools. For the event we will I plan to have my son’s Boy Scout Troop wear the scarves to school showing their support for staying in school.”
