In North Carolina, National School Choice Week will feature 2,313 events and activities. Every event is unique, and all schools, homeschool groups, organizations, and families celebrate in different ways. To give you an idea of the types of celebrations taking place this January in North Carolina, here are just a few that participants have shared with the NSCW team:

 

Steele Creek Preparatory Academy in Charlotte, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event will feature a pizza and DJ party celebrating how schools of choice embraces all students without bias!”

TLC in Raleigh, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. During the week the Prek kid’s are going to do the activities. We are going to conduct a walk around the whole campus expressing how we feel about our school with the banners. Pictures and videos will be taken and submitted.”

Roxboro Community School in Roxboro, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. Our students will be writing/drawing why they love our school and will wear the scarves one day and our staff will wear the National School Choice Week stickers one day.”

Anderson Creek Academy Charter School in Spring Lake, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. ACA plans to celebrate National School Choice Week with signs posted throughout campus, and school website promotion. We have developed a school dance group specifically for National School Choice Week. We will host a celebration On Friday, January 31st, with a performance by the dance group for parents and local community leaders.”

Unity Classical Charter School in Charlotte, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. We will be taking pictures of students and administrators wearing scarves and holding up the signs to post to Social Media. We are using our Spanish class to translate the message into a video message in English and Spanish.”

Brisbane Academy Preparatory School in Charlotte, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. Our children will write essays and draw pictures about what they love most about their private school experience. They will then share these essays and photos at the morning assembly. Our goal is celebrate appreciation for School Choice.”

Harold E. Winkler Middle School in Concord, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. We will celebrate on Tuesday, January 28th and Wednesday, January 29th by having students sign the banner, handing out stickers and scarves, and taking pictures with the signs.”

Brookstone Schools of Charlotte in Charlotte, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. We are taking a group photo of our students!”

Endy Elementary in Albemarle, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. The event will feature a week of activities including: Yellow Day, Why I Love My School Day, writing Thank You Notes, and a Pep Rally on Friday.”

North East Carolina Preparatory School in Tarboro, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. We are having a school tour and informational luncheon on the 30th. We have invited over 30 guests from our neighboring counties. We are very excited about this event.”

Iredell Charter Academy in Troutman, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. The event will feature an assembly with our students, staff and teachers.”

Bethel Hill Charter School in Roxboro, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. We are hosting one of our Kindergarten Enrollment Meetings during that time. We also plan to hand out scarves and put on social media.”

Langtree Charter Academy Upper School in Mooresville, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. We have the posters and signs up around the building. We will be taking pictures of students and staff holding signs while wearing the scarves to post on all social media outlets.”

The Master’s Academy in Forest City, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. We are wearing yellow and making a wall of how we’re thankful for our school.”

Tina Mccray in Andrews, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate virtual education. Take a picture of my children with scarves and signs and post on line and talk about school choice and how virtual education works. Include how important it is for students and parents to have a choice in education because every student is different.”

King Bryant Academy in Greensboro, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about homeschooling. The event will feature social media promotion.”

John Locke Foundation in Raleigh, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to Raise awareness of education options for children. The event will feature a speaker, Bob Luddy, entrepreneur and school founder, for a presentation to our audience. He is speaking on how good schools are the best community development program.”

Mary’s Little Lambs Childcare Center in Plymouth, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance of effective education for children. The event will feature a visit to the elementary schools and perform singing and interacting with other children.”

Double Trouble Early Learning Center in Wilkesboro, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. We took pictures with children holding signs and scarves to advertise school choice.”

Triangle Math and Science Academy in Cary, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event will feature an Information Night at our school. We will have a slideshow presentation, school tour and question and answer session. The purpose of this event to help local families learn more about our school and to promote school choice. Many parents are not aware of the options they have.”

Kayla Hughes in Rocky Point, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show local support for school choice. With a party for my son’s kindergarten classes”

Paula Kim in Cary, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For our event I will be sharing the information and scarves at a weekly group of moms who are currently interested or are homeschooling preschoolers.”

Stephanie Currie in Hillsborough, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of school choice.”

Krista Beattie in Youngsville, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. For our event we will be handing out materials to students and parents we know to help awareness!”

Shayla Dixon in Goldsboro, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For our event I plan to celebrate with family 👪 and friends!💁I hope to learn the NSCW dance moves as described in the video!🎉”

Cabarrus Charter Academy in Concord, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. We are hosting a special Open House evening with a light meal, Information Session, Leadership Presentation, various performances, and a school tour. We invited rising Kindergartners from area day care centers, rising 6th grades from our Lower to Upper Campus, rising 9th graders within our Upper School as well as rising 9th graders from our sister school, Concord Lake STEAM Academy – Kannapolis, NC.”

Concord Middle School in Concord, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. The event will feature our 8th graders holding the School Choice Week signs and wear scarves as they tell about the high school they have chosen for 2020 and why. These videos and pictures will be displayed on our school announcements and social media.”

Busy Bee Childcare Inc. in Roper, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great. The event will feature a fun night out with parents,teachers and students talking about healthy choices.”

Tutor All School in Elizabeth City, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. The event will feature three days of activities with the public library, visiting monumental sites, book reports,and fundraiser.”

Aversboro Elementary School in Garner, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We will ask out School Counselor and Social Worker to supply those students in need with the scarves.”

Camden Intermediate School in Camden, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. We are going to have students write on a banner what they love about their school. This will happen during their lunch period. Each grade level will have a picture taken with their banner and wearing their scarves. Then we will do a shout out to the district!”

WILLIAM T. BROWN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in SPRING LAKE, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. The event will feature parents having lunch with their child, doing activities from the activity book, making posters and doing a photo shot with a National School Choice Poster or their art work.”

Quality Education Academy High School in Winston Salem, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. We will write essays, film students and parents as they answer “Why did you choose QEA”, younger students will illustrate what they like most about their school, we will host a student/staff basketball game and the student body will ear purple and gold, teachers will give away prizes for the students that participate, our high school seniors will pass out the stickers and scarves to parents and students.”

Weddington Hills Elementary in Concord, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. The staff and students at WHES are celebrating National School Choice Week with dancing! Students and teachers have been rehearsing and will share their dance videos on Twitter during the week.”

Cornerstone Christian academy in Statesville, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We have a special activity planned Monday through Thursday. We have donuts to dad and muffins for mom Monday morning. Tuesday we have an open house. Wednesday is dignitary day. We have invited local dignitaries to a catered lunch, tour and then school assembly. Thursday we have a meeting regarding the scholarship for the general public. Friday we are attending an event with parents for educational freedom”

Grantham Middle School in Goldsboro, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. The event will feature Grantham Middle School will be celebrating National School Choice Week by having a designated day of wearing yellow and our yellow scarves. We will also have a “Where Will Public School Take Me?” Day for students to wear their future college gear or dress in their future career attire.”

IC Imagine Public Charter School in Asheville, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. We have an Enrollment Interest Meeting scheduled for Thursday, January 30th! We also have our students and families share what they love about school choice on social media – they are our best advertisers!”

Mt Pleasant Elementary School in Mt. Pleasant, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. The event will feature a special menu, prize box”

David D. Jones Elementary School in Greensboro, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. During the event scholars, staff and parents will join to show school spirit by conducting a signing, a short presentation about our school and group photo.”

Sheets Memorial Christian School in Lexington, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great. The event will feature taking turns wearing the scarfs depending on day/grade. The children who participate will be allowed to have a free “Jean Day” as long as they wear their scarf and a yellow shirt. We will also take picture with the kids and signs as well as have the younger grades color the banner and pictures. We are a K-12 school.”

Langtree Charter Academy – Upper Campus in Mooresville, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event will feature student testimonials”

Cardinal Charter Academy in Cary, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. We will making a commercial to celebrate our school of choice”

Northampton County Schools in Jackson, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. The event will feature a special lunch menu”

North Carolina School Choice in Wake Forest, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. We trust parents will decide what’s best for their kids. We encourage families to tap into educational freedoms and opportunities within our local communities and across our state as well!”

Counseling Secretary/records in Greensboro, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of school choice. The event will focus on educating parents and students on their different educational choices.”

Ambling Pines Academy in 30 Pinecrest Drive, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling students and parents. We are planning on celebrating with our homeschool friends!”

HIVE in Kinston, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on homeschooling. The event will feature a party and pictures. We will post to social media.”

Cox in Elm City, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling students and parents. I teach autistic kids and we are going to make video”

Sheneequa Gilchrist from Fayetteville, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will go to my son’s school and join the festivities. I enjoy going to my son school events and programs.”

Janet Eason from Mount  Olive, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. For the event we will have a party with dancing and food”

Cameron Kilby from Henderson, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance of effective education for children. For the event we will have a homeschool get together with all our friends and neighbors in our home”

Janet Lindsey from Fayetteville, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show local support for school choice. For the event I plan on writing and reading with the students, also passing out stickers and scarfs”

Amber Chrostian from Statesville, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children.”

Kelli Rubino from Morrisville, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. For the event we will participate with my child’s teacher in sharing and celebrating NSCW.”

Jackie Moles from Pink Hill, NC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. The event will focus on agricultural since our county is a farm community.  I also would like to include RADD (Raising Awareness for the Developmentally Disabled)  Our son is Autistic and had Cerebral Palsy.”
