In Ohio, National School Choice Week will feature 2,761 events and activities. Every event is unique, and all schools, homeschool groups, organizations, and families celebrate in different ways. To give you an idea of the types of celebrations taking place this January in Ohio, here are just a few that participants have shared with the NSCW team:

 

St. John’s Lutheran School in Marysville, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We will be having a Family Movie Night and all school families will be invited and are able to purchase a pizza for the event.”

Ashley Bolt in Newburgh Hts, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. Will be celebrating with my children’s school and teachers!”

Theresa Penza in Amelia, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. A group meeting with my Mom’s meet group.”

Horizon Science Academy in Columbus, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. We’ll have a spirit week, pass the scarves out to be students first and then randomly to other students. Students will complete the I love my school posters that we will place around the school and on Facebook.”

Liberty Christian Academy in Pataskala, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school.  We are planning an Open House on Tuesday of that week.  We put posters around the school and we pass out scarves as new families come to visit.”

Columbus Preparatory Academy in Columbus, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. CPA will be celebrating what we love about our school, students, families, and staff during NSCW by raffling scarves to activity participants during the week, having middle school students teach the NSCW dance to elementary school students, and making daily posts about the event on our Facebook page.”

Talisa Casey in Youngstown, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate virtual education. For our event we will be promoting education and the importance of it to my child as well as others. I will show others that online virtual school is just as effective as a brick and mortar school.”

Diamond Adams in Cleveland, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to inform parents about the options available for their children’s education. For our event we will share this information with educators, students and families so they can make informed choices when identifying educational opportunities.”

Linda Lattea in Columbiana, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show local support for school choice.”

Dorothy Toler in Lakewood, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For our event we will I will hand out the scarves to kids at my daughters school.”

Terra Clark in Elyria, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling. For our event we will I plan on having my family wear the scarfs and I am going to post on Facebook how we school.”

Central Academy of Ohio in Toledo, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. All week there will be different activities with community partners. Week will begin with scarves being given out at assemblies. End of week will be classroom celebrations and testimonies.”

Kennedy Heights Montessori Center in Cincinnati, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. We are having the children earn their yellow scarf by reading 100 minutes during National School Choice Week.”

DECA Middle in Dayton, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. We use the supplies to encourage people to enroll at our school doing enrollment. We give out the scarves to families that turn in completed applications”

St Jude School in Elyria, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. The event will feature Open House on Sunday, January 26th., activities throughout the week”

Heritage Christian School in Canton, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. The event will feature student posters and quotes, pictures of students with scarves, social media posts”

Summit Academy – Xenia in Xenia, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to Celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We are having a classroom door decorating contest. The winner of the contest wins a party for the entire class.”

Harvest Preparatory School in Canal Winchester, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great. We will pass out the scarves to our honor roll students”

Saint Paul School in Salem, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. We will kick it off at a Youngstown Phantoms Hockey Game and a school carnival. In the middle of the week we will have a winter themed STEM night, and finish with a spaghetti dinner. (All of these are community events) We will also be doing an all school family book read with the book Wishtree to promote literacy.”

Norton High School in Norton, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature working in conjunction with our Kindness week challenge, and the Guidance Office will be handing out the scarves to our students and staff.”

Primrose School of Centerville in Centerville, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. We are handing out yellow scarves, making posters, “Wear Yellow” day, learning the dance. Also taking pictures in scarves.”

Primrose School on Yankee in DAYTON, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. We will be handing out the scarves and taking pictures. We are also doing a “wear yellow day,” making posters and learning the dance!”

Summit Academy Lorain 6-12 in Lorain, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great. The event will feature Monday, January 27th: “Wear Yellow Day”. Wear yellow to support school choice. The class that shows the most support will win a prize! Tuesday, January 28th: “National School Choice Scarf Day”. Scarves will be handed out in the morning to wear. Pictures will be taken per grade level. Wednesday, January 29th: “Create a Banner Day”. In first period, the students will create a banner in celebration of School Choice. The banners will be judged by? The winning class will earn a pizza party.Thursday, January 30th: “Thank You Note Day”. In ELA class, the students will write “THANK YOU” notes to either their parents, teachers, or any staff member thanking them for all they do. Friday, January 31st: “Create a Rap/Song/Dance/Poem”. Students will be creative in their 1st period class. The winner’s video will be sent to www.schoolchoiceweek.com/celebrate.”

Treca Digital Academy in Columbus, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. The event will feature passing out the scarves at our orientation events, have the kids sign the big poster, involve staff members reach out to students about National School Choice Week, and discuss what it means to have school choice.”

The Goddard School of Canal Winchester in Canal Winchester, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We are going to celebrate a couple of kids and staff each day of the week. We will recognize our Kindergarten class and teachers by writing about the school and each other and displaying photos from the year in our hall.”

Kiddie City Child Care Community in Euclid, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We plan on hanging the posters and handing out the scarves to as many students as possible”

Mound Street Academies in Dayton, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. We will be passing out scarves and other supplies and having a spirit week (out of uniform days) with our students.”

Imagine Bella Academy of Excellence in Cleveland, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature posting to update our families about National School Choice Week on our Class Dojo school story. We also will be handing out scarves to each student as they enter the building in the morning, hanging up posters in the hallways, and taking pictures of students and staff wearing their scarves/posing next to posters.  Teachers will receive “I love my school because” posters for all students to write on and decorate.  These posters will be displayed on all 3 floors of the school.  We will also have a parade for students and staff around the school at the end of the school day on Thursday.”

Calvert Catholic Schools in Tiffin, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. The event will feature a speaker, competitive activities for students, Talent Show and Service Project”

Lakeshore Intergenerational School in Cleveland, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. The event will feature Information Sessions, Celebration of Learning, Open House, Social Media posts.”

SMFCS in Stow, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. At the event we will wear our scarves to let them know we have a great school”

Cuddling Precious Angels Home Child Care in Cleveland, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We plan to celebrate National School Choice week by having the children create banners, bulletin boards, their own dance to the song and have a dinner with parents.”

Alta Head Start in Austintown, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. The event will feature a brief presentation to the parents to let them know what school choice is and how it can benefit them.  Then each child will receive a scarf and design a “what I love about my school” placard.”

Constellation Schools Westside Community School of the Arts in Cleveland, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature a program and awards ceremony to celebrate students and staff.”

Central College Christian Academy in Westervill, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event will feature an open house on Jan. 26 where our current students come and share with their parents their achievements.  We invite prospective families to attend and mingle with our current families”

Dayton Business Technology High School in Dayton, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature an Open House all week for parents and community members.”

Queen City Career Prep high School in Cincinnati, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. The event will celebrate our brand new school building in a brand new location! New Program Courses and New Staff!”

New Heights Educational Group, Inc in Defiance, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to Show local support for school choice. The event will feature a Gluten-free and soy-free potluck, pies, and board game night.  Please join us for a night of fellowship and fun!”

AdamsHomeschooling in Reynoldsburg, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling students and parents. ”

Linda Umbenhour from Parma, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we are planning on having everybody over for a big house party so kids and parents together can play fun games adults vss kids, snacks and talk about schools and everybody can invite others to bring with them to help spread the word”

Lisa Hoskins from Sardis, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling. For the event we planning on taking photos and possibly short videos about what a difference our choice to homeschool our dyslexic son has made. Hope to get more families that homeschool involved, and try to get some local coverage through our counties newspaper.”

Kayla Ries from Brooklyn, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show local support for school choice. For the event I will be hand delivering the supplies to my son’s teacher to help his class learn more about their school.”

Jackie Fields from Amelia, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will be sharing with my kids Scout troops and their bus stops!”

Gina Miller from Springfield, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of opportunity in education. For the event my 6 & 4 year old granddaughters will have I love my school celebration”

Kristin Withrich from Orrville, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will hold an open house to show what we are doing in our school chosen by our families.”

Kristin Adams-Dipuccio from Mansfield, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling. For the event we will I plan on making some videos and posts on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. I am part of many homeschooling groups and will be sharing our National School Choice Week in those groups. We will also demonstrate and “advertise,” our choice to homeschool while”

Jackie Fields from Amelia, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will I plan to share with my daughters cadets Girl Scout troop. The girls attend different schools and I think it would be a great place to discuss school choice.”

Jessica Davis from Shadyside, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate traditional public schools. For the event we will I plan to use the supplies with my 3 children. One being preschool aged and afraid of school.”

Donna Reed from Columbus, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders.”

Lakisha Jeter from Steubenville, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to inform parents about the options available for their children’s education. For the event we will have an event after school to inform parents of all the educational choices that are available.”

Cynthia King from Toledo, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will get my daughter involved and we are going make a video and put it on Facebook”

Susan Owens from Troy, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will help my great grandchildren in any prospects they might have”

Destiny Hilty from Warren, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show local support for school choice. For the event we will show support on Facebook and social media by updating a status on how I support school choice.”

Robin Clark from Cincinnati, OH will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will share this and show appreciation to both my sons preschool and the local elementary school (in which the children I nanny attend).”
