Selection of events in Pennsylvania

In Pennsylvania, National School Choice Week will feature 2,915 events and activities. Every event is unique, and all schools, homeschool groups, organizations, and families celebrate in different ways. To give you an idea of the types of celebrations taking place this January in Pennsylvania, here are just a few that participants have shared with the NSCW team:

 

Bridgeway Academy in Catasauqua, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about homeschooling. The event will feature an Open House”

St. Luke’s Dayschool Of Good Shepherd in Philadelphia, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of school choice. We are a non-profit daycare/preschool. We hand each child a new scarf and they take them home to keep. The families all appreciate this so much.”

Blue Mountain SDA Elementary in Hamburg, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event will feature Visitation Day -Grades K-8. Fun filled day with S.T.E.M. activities and free vegetarian lunch provided.”

Tidioute Community charter School in Tidioute, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature TCCS will hold events all week with an all school assembly on Friday January 31st from 1:30 to 3:00.  Community and family will be invited to attend.  State representative Kathy Rapp will speak at our event.”

Christ Academy in Collingdale, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature Christ Academy will hear Middle School Headmaster Andrew Brummett speak during chapel on the importance of religious liberty in the school choice movement. NSCW scarves will be given to the students as they leave.”

Gillingham Charter School in Pottsville, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature our entire school, grades K-12, are attending the rally in Allentown with Executive Education Academy Charter School. It’s a field study for the entire school!”

Charter School of Excellence -Leadership Center in Erie, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We plan to host an Ice Cream Social.  All proceeds will go to the Crime Victims Center.”

Laura Meese in Plains, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. We are celebrating School Choice. I want to show my kids to the importance of it.”

Shauna Ruby in Elliottsburg, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. I am giving the scarfs to my daughter, she is giving one to each of her teachers and keeping one for herself.  She is handing stickers out to her class mates and they are going to talk bout what National School Choice means and how lucky they all are.”

Lee Anne Scott in Harrisburg, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. For our event I will be having my children wear their scarves and also sharing a little on Facebook about our different choices.”

Marlene Murrio in South Park, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance of effective education for children. For our event my grandchildren have taken the packet to school so the teacher is involved in celebration with the other students of her class.”

Larissa Smith in York, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. I am a parent of two students that attend Edgar Fahs Smith STEAM Academy in York Pa. I will be spending time with my daughters class to discuss education and what it means to them. I also plan on sharing pictures of the students with the materials I have received. My goal is to start this celebration in Hope’s the whole entire school will get involved in the coming years.”

Sherita Baylis in Lansdowne, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of school choice. For our event I am going to attached a couple of the scarves to my car like banners and I am going post pics of my child with the scarf explaining why it’s important to us”

Debbie Weiss in Ranville, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance of effective education for children. For our event we will I have given the box to a head 🌟 teacher to help promote school choice. She plans on using a it, and take photos. I am a bus driver for the school .”

Cynthia Diehl in Lake Ariel, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share our family’s school choice story. For our event I am celebrating by showing my support wearing the scarves out in public with my daughter. I will be showing my support as much as I can.”

Larissa Smith in York, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For our event I plan on going to my child’s school and celebrating with her class and teacher.”

The Montessori School in Morrisville, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. Since we are a preschool through kindergarten,we sing our own original song everyday using our School Choice yellow scarves. It is to the tune of “If You Are Happy and You Know It.””

Urban Pathways K-5 College Charter School in Pittsburgh, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. We will conduct a Silent March in the downtown area of Pittsburgh.”

Keystone Christian Academy in York, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature parent testimonies as well as pictures of our students holding NSCW posters on our various social media sites. We are also teaching some of our students the NSCW dance as well as handing out the scarves to all students and staff.”

Reach Cyber Charter School in Harrisburg, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great. Reach Cyber – Pennsylvania’s only free and online cyber school devoted to STEM – is hosting state-wide events before, during AND after National School Choice Week. From a trip to the famous Crayola Experience in Easton, where students will make their own crayon (yellow, of course!) and wax hands; to a snow tubing day in the Poconos complete with yellow scarves waving down the slopes; to an ice skating day with sign-making in Erie; to a town hall event in Philadelphia, we are involving EVERYONE at our school this year and always!”

Christopher Columbus Charter School in Philadelphia, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great.”

Trinity Lutheran School in Wellsboro, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show appreciation to families and teachers for making our school great. The event will feature a free ice cream social and family game night”

New Day Charter School in Huntingdon, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. We plan to circle our school with students holding scarves between them. With the addition of the scarves we should be able to make a complete circle. We will then do a short video clip.”

Propel Montour Elementary in Pittsburgh, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. We are celebrating National School Choice Week with a school-wide writing contest as well as a School Choice Dance Celebration.”

Achievement House Cyber Charter School in Exton, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. AHCCS is so excited to attend the Allentown NSCW Event on January 28th!”

Roberto Clemente Elementary Charter School in Allentown, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. We will do a small pep rally and have different themed days.”

Grace Christian School of Armstrong County in Kittanning, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. Grace Christian School students have the opportunity to “Bring A Friend to School” during National School Choice Week. Visitors must pre-register and will have the opportunity to spend time with the GCS student at school. It is through this event visitors will get to experience Grace Christian School.”

Elizabeth Lee Black school in Erie, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The students have posted all our signs, will complete our Why I love our school papers, do our dance in PE class as we exercise and take loads of photos as we celebrate all week. All papers and photos will go home to parents and be put on Facebook!”

Chestnut Ridge Christian Academy in Uniontown, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. We are planning on celebrating being a school of choice school wide and with families in our community.”

Tidioute Community Charter School in Tidioute, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature a celebrating of TCCS, school spirit week, assembly,”

PA Distance Learning Charter School in Wexford, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff.”

Lehigh Valley Christian High School in Bethlehem, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about different education options. LVCHS is hosting a free workshop on affordable ways to earn college credit during high school.  Find the choice that’s right for your family, and graduate with a semester, a year, or more of college credit!  The workshop is ideal for public, private, and homeschooled students and parents.  January 31, 2020, 7:00-8:00 pm (1500 Linden St. – Rear, Bethlehem, PA 18017).”

Champion Christian School in Donegal, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to Share what makes our school great with our community. We take lots of pictures with the scarves including decking out our snowmen on campus! Then we have an assembly where the kids create video testimonies on why school choice is important to them.”

Universal Academy of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. The event will kick off with a pep rally, muffins with mom day, thank you letters day and donuts with dad”

Faison K-5 in Pgh, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. At the event we will hand out scarves to the students for this cold winter and set up a school choice week table for the New Year”

Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship in Pittsburgh, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to Show our school spirit. The event will feature Grade level Face Painting contest, and a staff vs. student game”

Huntingdon Valley Christian Academy in Huntingdon valley, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance of effective education for children. The event will feature a spirit T-shirt contest.”

Young Scholars of Mckeesport Charter School in Mckeesport, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. As part of the school events committee, I plan to incorporate a theme each day of the week, culminating with a prize to the classroom who reaches a specific goal. An example of this would be each class explaining why school choice is important to them in a piece of artwork or a performance, posting the submissions online, and throwing a popcorn party for the class who’s submission received the most likes/positive comments.”

Charter School of Excellence Leadership Center in Erie, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature an ice cream social and donating the money to a non profit organization”

Welcomekidz in EXTON, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. The event will feature KIDS & TEACHERS SONG”

Moraine Academy in Butler, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on homeschooling. By encouraging school choice online on facebook and Instagram and sign for our yard”

Charles Emmert from Johnstown, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show local support for school choice. For the event we will be spreading support for our local schools”

Nicole Koch from Whitehall, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of opportunity in education. For the event we will have creative activities to help my first grader who is struggling quite a bit in the public school setting learn the different options available to her for schooling and make an educated decision together.”

Jennifer Vanderslice from Northampton, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will have an assembly at our school and myself and other mother’s will be promoting the NSCW supplies.”

Breeann Anderson from Erie, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate virtual education. For the event we are having a skating party.”

Richard Anderson from Dover, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show local support for great educators. For the event we will have many fun activities”

Jill Troche from Bethlehem, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate public charter schools. For the event we are planning on handing out brochures and other info about our school”

Beth Sites from Linesville, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to discuss K-12 school choice policies and opportunities.”

Mary Stone from Northampton, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance of effective education for children. We are a homeschool and charter school family and we don’t know what we would do without school choice. We plan on wearing our gear to community outings, and get a table at our community street fair to promote school choice.”

Joanne Smith from Erie, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders.”

Jill Scavincky from Monessen, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. For the event we will put posters in our windows at home and on social media to help raise awareness for school choice.”

Melissa Harden from Ronco, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to discuss K-12 school choice policies and opportunities.”

Mary Kendrick from York, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance of effective education for children. For the event we take photos at my grandson’s school with his preschool class”

Diane Mania from Philadelphia, PA will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness about the importance of effective education for children. For the event we will talking to some people who are interested, but anxious about school choice at the first book club of the new year.”
