Selection of events in South Carolina

In South Carolina, National School Choice Week will feature 1,049 events and activities. Every event is unique, and all schools, homeschool groups, organizations, and families celebrate in different ways. To give you an idea of the types of celebrations taking place this January in South Carolina, here are just a few that participants have shared with the NSCW team:

 

Panthers Pack in Longs, SC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of opportunity in education. We are combining national school choice week right in to our 100th day of school celebrations. Will wear our yellow scarves and draw some pictures and take lots of photos”

Classical Conversations – Northern Coast, SC in Myrtle Beach, SC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to bring attention to homeschooling as a form of school choice. The event will feature gathering local pastors, youth leaders, and influencers who have the same passion for kids. In a world of so many choices, we want them to know School Choice exists.”

Arin Davis in Gaffney, SC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For our event I plan on giving out the scarves and making posters with my family and also spreading the word in my community by wearing the scarves an promoting on Instagram.”

Misty Roland in Lex, SC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. For our event we will be sharing on Facebook and in my groups,  emailing friends, wearing my scarf and handing out the stickers at work.”

Thomas Yates in Aiken, SC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to inform parents about the options available for their children’s education. For our event we will post on Facebook and some online forums to talk about it.”

Demetria Pam in Columbia, SC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For our event we are celebrating with a dance.”

Faith Christian Academy in Cheraw, SC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. We will hand out scarves to our students who haven’t received them in the past. We will use some scarves to tie to our fence to draw attention to our school. We are in the middle of a small rural, historic downtown with a good amount of traffic. We will “fly” the scarves all week near our banner to promote School Choice and FCA!”

St. Joseph Catholic School in Anderson, SC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. Students have been practicing the dance, we will welcome them and give them the scarves in the car line, I will open the door, wrap the scarves around and go into the auditorium for morning meeting and break into a dance mob! then during our hat parade, we will wear the scarves as well to make a bigger impact, pictures will look very cool!”

Saint John Catholic School in North Charleston, SC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “We are celebrating in conjunction with Catholic Schools Week, so each day involves a focus area. We will have an alumni and parishioner drop in on Sunday; a fun sock day and trash clean-up on Monday; a 8th graders take over the school Tuesday and students add hand prints to our Circles of Peace; red,white and blue day–prayer around the flagpole on Wednesday; egg drop competition and visit from religion sisters and brothers that afternoon–students dressing as their future vocation (career); Walk-a-Thon, School Choice Dance, Pep Rally, Kidz in Lids, and signing of our promise to include (Unified Champion School) on Friday. We are also starting to collect canned goods on 1/16 for our Blessing Box–this will end on 1/31.”

McKissick Academy of Science and Technology in Easley, SC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. We are going to hand out the scarfs, video our students with a testimony of why they love their school, and allow them to make their signs.”

Second Baptist Christian Preparatory School in Aiken, SC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. We here at SBC Prep will be celebrating by attending the National School Choice Day on January 28th, passing out of the scarves and teaching our students a chant.”

Dreams With Open Arms in Calhoun Falls, SC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. The event will feature the 4k and 5k teachers and students to encourage them that these classes is the most important classes to set them on the right path to educational success.”

GotOptions LLC in Aynor, SC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to provide information to parents interested in homeschooling their children. We want to educate parent’s in our area about Homeschooling their child and offer them some alternatives from public school.”

Taja Hill from Rock Hill, SC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will be celebrating with the school my kids attend”

Lindsay Holmes from Lexington, SC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event my family and I will be handing out materials at the charter school my dad works at.”

Mya Dangelmaier from Myrtle Beach, SC will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For the event we will plan a fundraiser and a dedication/acknowledgment to either an individual or school.”
