Selection of events in West Virginia

In West Virginia, National School Choice Week will feature 395 events and activities. Every event is unique, and all schools, homeschool groups, organizations, and families celebrate in different ways. To give you an idea of the types of celebrations taking place this January in West Virginia, here are just a few that participants have shared with the NSCW team:

 

Anja Dhinagaran in Beckley, WV will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders with a partially homeschooling Montessori style.”

Christian Stordahl from Kennewick, WV will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. Private schools and independent homeschool organizations getting together to highlight available options for parents who are seeking!”

Maria Bray from Buckhannon, WV will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. For the event we will talk about school choice with my coffee club & book discussion groups”

Donald Dobbs from Cameron, WV will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling. For the event we will make cookies and take turns reading a book”

Rhonda Van Camp from Follansbee, WV will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling. For the event we will have a field trip!”

The Highland School in Ellenboro, WV will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. We will gather in front of the school with students and staff wearing scarves and holding posters. Make a school choice blanket using extra scarves.”

Fairview Middle in Fairview, WV will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. This year we are focusing on writing skills, so we are having the student write why they love Fairview Middle. All students work will be posted. All students will receive a scarf for their effort! This has been a good year for us, We got results of the state assessment from the spring of 2019 and Fairview Middle ranks number 1 in the state of West Virginia.”

Heritage Christian School in Bridgeport, WV will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to share what makes our school great with our community. We will wear the yellow scarf during our weekly chapel during worship and hopefully be able to upload a video to social media. We will also mail a press release to area media.”
