In Wisconsin, National School Choice Week will feature 984 events and activities. Every event is unique, and all schools, homeschool groups, organizations, and families celebrate in different ways. To give you an idea of the types of celebrations taking place this January in Wisconsin, here are just a few that participants have shared with the NSCW team:

 

Funtime in Wausau, WI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of opportunity in education. The event will feature fun learning activities and scarves will go to children who don’t have one.”

Pilgrim Lutheran School in Wauwatosa, WI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to Help local families learn more about our school. The event will feature a spirit week and an open house to showcase our great school to the community”

Lake Country Academy – Public Charter School in Sheboygan, WI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. I am part of the School Board for Lake Country.  This is mine and our schools 1st year to celebrate National School Choice Week. We will start off small and take pictures of all the board members with scarves and a sign or two then post to our website and Facebook account.”

Clara Mohammed School in Milwaukee, WI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate our students, parents, teachers and staff. The event will feature handing out scarves to students and teachers. Students will have the opportunity to work choice week activity worksheets and we take pictures while wearing scarves. Our 5th grade class will decorate our National School Choice Week banner.”

St. John the Baptist School in Princeton, WI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to show our school spirit. The event will feature handing out the scarves we received and hanging up any posters that promote our school. That week also coincides with Catholic School Week which we will be having a week full of activities promoting our school and participating in a field trip”

Malaika Early Learning Center in Milwaukee, WI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event will feature creating video snapshots to post on our social media and classroom dojo to excite parents and community members.”

Britteny Olson in Hancock, WI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. For our event I gave my box to my daughters kindergarten teacher, she will be doing fun activities with them and writing up a paper note for the parents to explain what it’s all about. Hoping that the sooner everyone knows about it the more involved they will get throughout their child’s educational years. Spread the word!”

Wolf River Lutheran High School in Shawano, WI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. We will be hosting the Luther Lympics on Thursday, January 30th. 4 area Lutheran elementary schools will be coming to Wolf River Lutheran High School to compete.”

Amy & Kids Co. Family Child Care in Appleton, WI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to raise awareness of education options for children. As an early childhood program my goal is to educate families about School Choice. I plan to hand out the scarves and informational materials to the children and their families, and take photos of the children in their scarves to post on social media.”

Lisa Kowalski from Marshfield, WI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to celebrate homeschooling. For the event we will take a group picture, discuss our freedom to homeschool, make some school choice themed art, try to learn the dance”

Faunda Netzel from Marion, WI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to inform parents about the options available for their children’s education. We will have a week full of fun exciting field trips to local educational places to show how we can be educated without sitting in desks all week.”

St. John’s Lutheran School in Beloit, WI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. Students will be completing the “Why I love my school” sheets and recording videos stating it for social media”

A.E. Burdick school in Milwaukee, WI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. I’m planning on making copies of activities and handing out the scarves to the teachers.”

Blessed Sacrament Catholic School in Milwaukee, WI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to shine a positive spotlight on our school. We will be participating in the School Choice Rally at the state capital”

St. John the Baptist School in Plymouth, WI will be celebrating National School Choice Week “with an event to help local families learn more about our school. The event will feature an open house for current and prospective students”
