Our state and internationally accredited schools have offered bicultural liberal arts Catholic education that excels in the academic area as well as in creating a cultural environment rich in tradition, celebrations, language, and history of the border area between Texas and Mexico. Initially, we were able to serve only elementary age students. However, in 1998, the Pharr Oratory accepted the challenge of opening the first Catholic High School in Hidalgo County. Construction was made possible in 2007 for the Oratory Schools to offer students spacious and aesthetically beautiful classrooms, cafeteria, library, lecture hall, and a renovated school chapel. In the last few years, the school has added an athletic field (football, soccer) with bleachers for about 300 spectators, an additional student parking lot and has added a number of academic honor societies to promote academic excellence and school pride.
Started in 2011, National School Choice Week is the world’s largest annual education-related celebration. The goal of NSCW, which features participation from tens of thousands of schools and organizations, is to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for children.
During National School Choice Week, schools across America celebrate the challenging, motivating, and effective education they provide to students. At the same time, parents use the week to learn more about the education options available to their children, in advance of the upcoming school year.
National School Choice Week is nonpartisan and nonpolitical, and is not related to any legislative advocacy efforts.
