Torres East LA Performing Arts Magnet is excited to announce that they will be celebrating National School Choice Week (January 26-February 1, 2020) with a special spotlight event!
The event will feature a family information workshop. Kennedy Elementary School’s new Visual & Performing Arts Magnet, Belvedere Middle School’s STEAM/Media Arts Magnets and Torres East LA Performing Arts Magnet will present a collaborative performance and application workshop for parents and guardians of K-12 students. Special guest speakers will include YOLA at Torres Program Manager Ian Richard, LA Philharmonic LA Opera Connects, Community Engagement Program Coordinator Adam LeBow VersaStyle Dance Company Artistic Director Jackie Lopez.
Torres East LA Performing Arts Magnet is a public magnet school that welcomes students at all levels of skill and experience in the arts, offers high-quality academic opportunities, including early college access, AP and Honors classes, with state-of-the-art facilities for performing arts students. Partnerships with the LA Philharmonic, LA Opera, LA Master Chorale, Shakespeare Center LA, VersaStyle Dance Company and Ballet Hispanico enrich students’ learning through performances, field trips, internships, mentoring and guest artists.
Started in 2011, National School Choice Week is the world’s largest annual education-related celebration. The goal of NSCW, which features participation from tens of thousands of schools and organizations, is to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for children.
During National School Choice Week, schools across America celebrate the challenging, motivating, and effective education they provide to students. At the same time, parents use the week to learn more about the education options available to their children, in advance of the upcoming school year.
National School Choice Week is nonpartisan and nonpolitical, and is not related to any legislative advocacy efforts.
