As a soon-to-be high school graduate in Orange County, I have attended a traditional public school, a public charter school, and both public and private high schools. The struggles I experienced in failing schools were very real and potentially debilitating to my future without school choice options. School choice is an important and valuable part of my life, and I am reminded of that during National School Choice Week.

Reflecting on my K-12 career, there have been many challenges and school changes. My parents made difficult and hard choices about where to send me ensuring I received the best education for my academic needs. Sometimes they had to fight for school choice options because it was not accepted or even available. As I attended different types of schools, I learned that education is not the same for everyone, which is why students need different school options. Every student deserves the chance to learn and be successful in the school that works best for their learning style.
