OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 16, 2019) – Dr. Howard Fuller, distinguished professor of education at Marquette University in Milwaukee and school choice pioneer, will keynote the third annual Oklahoma School Choice Summit & Expo, which runs 4-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24 at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City.

The free event includes a panel with lawmakers and breakout sessions on topics including: turning around schools, community organizing, the Oklahoma Equal Opportunity Education Tax Credit, special education policy, and edupreneurship.

This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.

“We’re once again excited to host an Oklahoma School Choice Fair in Oklahoma City to help empower parents with the tools to choose the best education environment for their child,” said Robert Ruiz, executive director of ChoiceMatters. “We know that parents in Oklahoma are eager to find the right fit for their child, and by taking advantage of the national celebration of School Choice Week we’re able to better connect with them and hopefully point them in the right direction.”

Event planners include the Opportunity Scholarship Fund, National School Choice Week, American Federation for Children, and Americans for Prosperity. Partners include ChoiceMatters, Oklahoma Educated Workforce Initiative, Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs, Oklahoma Public Charter School Association, ExcelinEd, EdChoice, the MetCares Foundation, Grassroots Leadership Academy, Oklahoma Faith Leaders, and Advance Rural Education.

The Oklahoma History Center is located at 800 Nazih Zuhdi Dr. in Oklahoma City. The event is free, but attendees should reserve a ticket via EventBrite.
