CEAM’s Education Policy Panel to highlight innovative 2019 initiatives

(JEFFERSON CITY, MO) — As part of National School Choice Week, The Children’s Education Alliance of Missouri (CEAM) is presenting a dynamic panel of education experts in the heart of Missouri’s political world to examine a variety of innovative education initiatives which could transform the state’s struggling education system. The 2019 CEAM Education Policy Panel will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Capitol City CORK and Provisions, 124 E High St., Jefferson City.

Dr. James Shuls, a leading Missouri education expert, will lead a discussion on education policy among a panel composed of both national and state education leaders:

  • State Representative Shamed Dogan will talk about how access to high quality education transformed his life and inspired his fight for expanded school choice in Missouri.
  • The Institute for Justice’s Rachelle Engen will bring a national perspective on how other states are implementing school choice programs and what could work in Missouri.
  • Show-Me Institute’s Director of Research and Education Policy Susan Pendergrass will share her perspective on charter schools and other legislative changes that could be made to improve education in Missouri.
  • Summit Christian Academy K-12 Academic Dean Kimberlee Gill will talk about how public school policy impacts the state’s growing number of private schools.

All panelists will be available for interviews between 5 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. and after the panel concludes.
