HOUSTON (Jan. 16, 2019) – Eighth grade students, parents, and community members from local middle schools will be welcomed by cheerleaders and a band at “Framing the Future with iASPIRE and IB,” an event highlighting the college initiative programs at Eisenhower High School.

The event will kick off at 8 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25 with an opening ceremony by Eisenhower High School’s choir and Reserve Officer Training Corp participants. Campus leaders and administrators will offer a formal welcome to attendees, after which students will tour the campus and attend four half-hour sessions highlighting athletic opportunities and special programs at the high school. Current Eisenhower High School students will share their personal experiences of the school’s academic rigor and cultural emphasis in a panel discussion.

This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.

“We will be celebrating school choice by highlighting the iASPIRE and International Baccalaureate diploma and certificate programs specific to this campus,” said Aquila Aubrey, administrator for college initiatives at Eisenhower High School. “Parents and students appreciate the broader experience of balancing academic success with participation in the arts, organizations, and athletics. We want to ensure all parents are knowledgeable about the proper support systems we have in place for student success.”

iASPIRE is Eisenhower High School’s College Initiative Program for first-generation students in grades 9-12 to positively impact college and career readiness. Through iASPIRE, students are motivated to address the importance of college enrollment, completion, and financial solvency.
