CARSON CITY (Jan. 14, 2019) – More than 500 students, teachers, and community members will march from the Plaza Conference Center to the Nevada State Capitol grounds to show their support for school choice. The march and rally will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
The rally will feature a variety of student performances, including the National School Choice Week dance. Attendees are encouraged to use the march and rally as a time to promote civic engagement by consulting with legislators, touring the Capitol building, and dialoguing with other school choice supporters about education.
This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
“While Nevada is still working toward more educational options and more variety within options, we do still have options,” said Elissa Wahl, co-founder at RISE Education Resource Center. “RISE Education Resource Center loves letting parents know about those options. Whether it’s a charter school, a public school done from home, a specialized magnet school or homeschooling, there are many ways to fit a child’s needs.”
RISE Education Resource Center, coordinator of the event, is an organization that offers ongoing classes, services, educational resources, and consulting in order to support educational choice.
