PITTSBURGH (Jan. 17, 2019) – Hundreds of students and staff at Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship (PHCSE) will gather for an all-school assembly on Tuesday, Jan. 22, followed by a host of activities on Wednesday, Jan. 23 and Thursday, Jan. 24.

These events are planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.

Tuesday’s event will begin at 2 p.m. and include an overview of National School Choice Week, students sharing stories of what makes them grateful for PHCSE, and winners being recognized for the school’s door and locker decorating contest.

Wednesday will include a “Warm Up with Local Heroes” event from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., during which the Student Government Association and PHCSE MicroSociety President will deliver donuts to the Penn Hills Police Station, Penn Hills Library, and Penn Hills Magistrate’s office. On Wednesday afternoon, staff and students will face off in a series of basketball games from 1:45 to 3 p.m.

Thursday morning, from 8:05 to 8:25 a.m., students will celebrate National School Choice Week by writing thank you notes to local heroes, such as parents, staff, and the school PTA, who continue to make school choice possible.

“We choose Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship because it allows us to bring our innovative ideas to life,” said Elysia Young, student government president at PHCSE.

Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship is a K-8 public charter school that teaches students to develop an entrepreneurial mindset, and how character, academics, and relationships can be successfully carried out through life.
