PROVIDENCE (Jan. 15, 2019) – Hundreds of students, parents, and staff from various Rhode Island schools will gather on Thursday, Jan. 24 to highlight school choice and meet community leaders at Rhode Island Families for School Choice’s annual legislative reception.
The event, which will take place 2:30-5 p.m. at the Rhode Island State House, will feature school choice supporters rallying for educational opportunity and discussing how other states have benefited from increasing parental choice in education. Families and teachers from public, private, and charter schools will have the opportunity to meet legislators and showcase their schools.
This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
“Celebrating school choice at the historic Rhode Island State House helps communicate the importance of educational opportunity,” said Sheila Konis, director of Rhode Island Families for School Choice. “When so many schools come together, we make sure our leaders hear how much Rhode Island families care about expanding school choice.”
Rhode Island Families for School Choice seeks to empower families to choose the educational environment that best meets the strengths and needs for each student by advancing public policies and providing a voice for school choice.
