ST. LOUIS(Jan. 15, 2019)– What would happen if medical options were determined the same way education is determined for millions of children— by address? The St. Louis Policy Breakfast on Tuesday, Jan. 22nd will feature a short film, “Zoned,” that uses this provocative question to creatively discuss educational choice.

The event will take place 7:30-8:30 a.m. at the Kingside Diner on Maryland Avenue and the short screening will be followed by a panel discussion on school choice featuring Dr. Susan Pendergrass, director of research and education policy at the Show-Me Institute; Dr. James V. Shuls, assistant professor of educational leadership and policy studies at the University of Missouri-St. Louis; and Douglas Thaman, executive director of the Missouri Charter Public Schools Association.

This event coincides with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.

“We will be celebrating school choice by making it the central topic discussed by education policy experts,” said Dr. Susan Pendergrass. “By doing so, we hope to engage the public of St. Louis and reveal the incredible importance of parents having options for their children’s education.”

The St. Louis Policy Breakfast is sponsored by the Show-Me Institute, the leading think tank in Missouri dedicated to promoting free markets and individual liberty. The Show-Me Institute wants to see Missouri become a place where parents are free to direct the education and upbringing of their children.
