There are a variety of school choice options available for many of the 207,000 children living in South Dakota. Families in South Dakota can choose from traditional public schools, private schools, and homeschooling.

As a nonprofit, charitable effort, School Choice Week works throughout the year to develop and provide free, practical, and unbiased school search resources for South Dakota families.
During our annual awareness celebrations each January, schools and homeschool groups partner with community organizations to plan school fairs, parent information sessions, open houses and other awareness events to spotlight the diversity of education options available in the state. In January 2022, we will partner with 60 schools and organizations in South Dakota to raise awareness of K-12 education options.
