Schools around the country are hosting various events celebrating National School Choice Week, including one local campus.
Southwest Preparatory School’s Seguin campus celebrated on Wednesday. The event featured music and dancing, student and parent testimonials and tours of the campus.
Assistant principal Delayna Doege said that this is a great opportunity to raise awareness about the different educational options available to area children and families.
“I think there are still a lot of families in Seguin that don’t know that we’re here or don’t fully understand what a charter school is,” Doege said. “School Choice Week gives us a chance to let the public know that we are a public school, so we aren’t tuition-based. But we also don’t work within the local school district. We are able to provide smaller class sizes and thus more individualized learning.”
