Over the past two years, a record 29 states expanded school choice, empowering parents to select new schools and learning environments for their children. The growth in public, charter, magnet, private, online, and home education options will give millions of students new opportunities to learn, thrive, and succeed.
But millions of additional parents face obstacles to exercising their school choice options. One in five parents are unsure of the education options available for their kids. And more than a third of parents describe the school search process as “complicated.”
National School Choice Week removes these barriers.
At the local and state levels, we raise broad, positive, and equal awareness of the school choice options available for families––so that moms and dads truly understand the options available for their kids––by partnering with schools and nonprofit organizations to plan or promote more than 20,000 awareness events each year. We also provide direct support to families by researching, writing, and promoting the nation’s largest online portfolio of school navigation resources for parents. These resources have served 3.26 million families over the past two years.
Honoring Your Support
National School Choice Week is a unique, effective, and cost-efficient charitable program with an enormous reach. Your donation will help us: build effective partnerships with schools and homeschool groups, provide participants with free educational materials so that they can raise awareness of school choice in their communities, plan large-scale statewide school fairs and celebratory events that inspire families to consider their education choices, and develop and promote English- and Spanish-language resources that help parents find schools that meet their children’s needs.
A Commitment to Transparency
Your donation will power charitable programs that meet the highest standards for financial transparency and efficiency. In fact, Guidestar––the world’s largest source of nonprofit information and analysis––awarded the National School Choice Awareness Foundation with its highest possible rating, the Platinum Seal of Transparency. Less than one percent of charitable organizations across the U.S. receive this rating.
