There are a variety of school choice options available for many of the 1.1 million children living in Alabama. Families in Alabama can choose from traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, private schools, online academies, and homeschooling.
In 2025, we are partnering with 376 schools and organizations in Alabama to raise awareness of K-12 education options.

Alabama Connections Academy is celebrating NSCW 2026 by hosting our Open House and tours of our school.

Black Homeschoolers of Birmingham (BHOB) is celebrating NSCW 2026 with our Positioned for Success Summit on January 23rd-24th. Our signature annual event is open to all participants—bringing this mission to life by convening diverse families, students, and educators for a transformational two-day experience of learning, leading, and launching new educational opportunities. This year our new programs include: Voices of Choice Student Showcase & Leadership Forum, which celebrates the power of school choice through the voices, talents, and leadership of the students it serves. Another program is our Builders of Choice: Homeschool & Micro School Innovator Incubator, which operates as a launchpad for educational entrepreneurs—particularly those from underrepresented communities—ready to create new schools and learning spaces. Also, our program called Parent Power Pavilion: Homeschool Empowerment Hub which is a community space designed specifically to support both new and seasoned homeschool families with practical tools, guidance, and real-time support.
