Every January, tens of thousands of schools, organizations, and individuals plan unique events and activities to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options in their communities. The Week is a project of the nonpartisan, nonpolitical National School Choice Awareness Foundation.

What?

Students and parents joined Charleston RISE and National School Choice Awareness Foundation on January 30th 2025, 9:00am – 12:30pm for a celebration of school choice! Hosted at the University of South Carolina Alumni Center, this event began with a talent showcase featuring students from across the state and continued with a spirit-filled march to the State Capitol Building. We celebrated students’ access to school choice with a Proclamation from the governor and heard speeches from parents and students to share their school choice story.

What?

Families in South Carolina have more choices for their children’s education than ever before! Parents learned more about the different K–12 education options available for their kids at the Columbia School Fair on February 1st 2025 at Brookland Baptist Church

At the school fair, parents had the chance to meet representatives from traditional public, public charter, public, magnet, private, faith-based, online, home, and nontraditional schooling options.

This event was hosted by Palmetto Promise Institute in collaboration with the National School Choice Awareness Foundation. It was family-friendly, free to attend, and included complimentary food, face painting and balloon artists.
